At Pedalar sem Idade Portugal, a non-profit movement that promotes outdoor rides for seniors and people with reduced mobility, is organizing yet another session of “Conversations Without Age,” an initiative dedicated to the sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices related to aging, inclusive mobility, volunteering and well-being, according to a press release.
According to the same source, with the theme “Movement Cycling Without Age,” the next conversation — which will be held online on June 23, at 4:00 PM — will allow attendees to learn the history, the vision and the impact of an initiative born from the desire to combat loneliness and unwanted social isolation through rides on “trishaws,” the bicycles adapted with a comfortable sofa. The session is free and will be led by the founder of this Danish movement that inspires thousands of volunteers worldwide, Ole Kassow.
“We created this initiative in 2023 with the aim of supporting and empowering our volunteers, providing moments of sharing and continuous learning,” says Amos Panesse, Local Project Manager of Pedalar Sem Idade Portugal. “However, we realized that the ‘Conversations Without Age’ sessions are equally interesting for the general community, so at the beginning of this year we decided to make them accessible to all who wish to watch and participate in a dialogue about the challenges of aging in today’s society.”
The conversations have focused on topics such as active aging, combating unwanted social isolation, inclusive mobility, mental health and volunteering. Through this initiative, Pedalar Sem Idade Portugal aims to reinforce the volunteers’ sense of belonging, raise awareness among the community about social challenges, promote intergenerational relations and give visibility to practices that contribute to a better quality of life.
Registration is free and mandatory, and can be done here.
