The 8th Green Savers Conference, “Leading the Sustainable Transition,” will take place on the morning of October 27, between 9:00 and 13:00, at the Auditorium of the Orlando Ribeiro Library, in Telheiras, Lisbon. After in May debating ESG as “the superpower of companies,” Green Savers now places at the center those who decide and organize the morning in three debate panels, between an opening intervention and a closing session. The panels follow a conversation format, with no presentations, moderated by Green Savers journalists. The speakers will be announced in the coming days.
The first panel, “Transforming: sustainability at the management table,” begins at 9:45 and starts from a realization: sustainability only transforms a company when it reaches management decisions, investment, the goals of each team and the way performance is evaluated. Companies that have already taken this path will share concrete examples of what worked and what still costs to change inside the doors. At a time when Brussels is easing reporting obligations, the conversation also looks at what keeps the course when legal pressure eases.
After the break, at 10:55, “Cooperate: no one closes the loop alone” takes the debate to the circular economy, which only functions if the entire chain pulls in the same direction, from those who produce and sell to those who collect and recycle. The moment helps: the new European regulation on packaging has been in force since August and the beverage packaging deposit system has been in place since April. The panel will look at what already yields results, the points where the chain still fails, and how costs and responsibilities are shared.
The last panel, at 11:40, scales down to the neighborhood level. In “Mobilize: the transition at the doorstep,” the question is how citizens and communities are mobilized for a change that is visible in home efficiency, street cleanliness, green spaces and daily habits, and what role municipalities, associations and companies play in this process.
The 8th Green Savers Conference is sponsored by Central de Cervejas e Bebidas, Leroy Merlin, Prio, Scoring, Sociedade Ponto Verde and Valorpneu, with the support of EPAL, SAPO and Tabaqueira, and counts on the City Hall of Lisbon and the Lumiar Parish Council as institutional partners.
