Lidl’s Solidarity Bag Raises €270,000 for 54 Animal Welfare Associations

October 13, 2026

The solidarity bag “Pa-tudo”, from Lidl Portugal, has already raised €270,000 since its launch in June. The amount will be distributed among 54 animal protection associations, which will receive €5,000 each to support the care provided to the animals under their responsibility, according to a press release.

According to the same source, the results were announced during the “Cãominhada Max & Mila’s World”, at Mata do Jamor, which brought together about 300 families and their pets. The event also marked the launch of Lidl’s new brand of dog food and snacks.

The charitable initiative is expected to benefit more than 12,300 animals, including around 7,600 cats and 4,700 dogs. The supported associations face difficulties in meeting basic needs, with more than half reporting an imminent stock-out situation or very low levels of food stocks and hygiene products.

A survey conducted by the retailer with the institutions identified veterinary costs as one of the main difficulties, cited by 91% of associations. The lack of dog food and other foods was cited by 70%, while a shortage of volunteers also arises among the identified challenges.

“Each bag sold is a vote of confidence from our customers in the animal cause, and the amount already raised is proof that, together, we can make a real difference on the ground. This is an important first step, but the needs of these associations are daily and the road ahead is long. And this is precisely why this initiative exists: because helping these animals is truly worthwhile!”, says Vanessa Romeu, Head of Corporate Affairs of Lidl Portugal.

Support for animal protection and prevention of abandonment

The “Pa-tudo” bag continues to be sold in all Lidl stores for one euro, of which 50 cents go directly to the animal cause. The initiative also covers prevention of abandonment, through support to Animalife, which assists families in economically vulnerable situations with difficulties in keeping and caring for their pets.

The results announcement was attended by representatives of the beneficiary associations and by Cláudia Vieira, ambassador of the initiative.
