More than just one of the major trends in contemporary design, biophilic architecture is one of the keys to refreshing the residential cores of the cities that suffer most from heat waves – such as Lisbon – as a result of climate changes. This is why the approach is growing exponentially in our country, in the largest cities, and will be on the agenda of the 11th edition of Homeing – Interior Design, Hotel and Home Living, but from the perspective of interior decoration, as disclosed in a statement.
According to the same source, the event returns to the Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, from 24 to 26 September, with a selection of the best high-end furniture, lighting, accessories/bath, decoration fabrics/revestimentos, tapestries/textiles and design solutions.
Besides being highly functional, the forms and flows inspired by nature are sensory and highly transformative. The connection of designed spaces to the environment – through the presence of plants (gardened areas and green walls), light (large windows, skylights, etc.) and natural ventilation (breeze flow), water (fountains, lakes and mirrors), as well as organic materials and shapes (wood, stone and fluid lines) – promote well-being, comfort and emotional balance.
Correlations that will arise at Homeing 2026 by the hand of Tábua Rasa, in the conference program of the event, which will address wood as a biofilic material in contemporary interiors, seen as a perceptual material: with variation, depth, texture, temperature to the touch, acoustic response, aging and a visual complexity that the brain recognizes as organic. It will take place on the 25th, starting at 12:10 p.m.
Designed for interior professionals (architects, designers and other professionals involved in projects and premium design), Homeing 2026 chose precisely as its inspirational motto “Feel Balance”. To focus on creating more conscious, harmonious and balanced spaces.
Yet amidst the many novelties from the companies and brands on display, there are many more topics on the agenda of the space Let’s Talk About, to foster the sharing of knowledge and creative inspiration at the fair.
On opening day, in the South Foyer of the Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, the start of the conferences will be on the motto “Lighting Design in Interior Architecture” (Teresa Pinto Coelho, Artur Correia, Traço Luz), after which there will be an approach to the “Futuro da experiência no espaço: entre a narrativa, estética e funcionalidade”, by Tiago Vilaça, Isabel Sá Nogueira and Bruno Pereira, under the moderation of Patrícia Catalão.
The morning of the 25th will be occupied by the reflections of Raquel Contreiras, Bernardo Fernandes and Ana Luísa Dias, around an ethical perspective on the role of design, the screen as a piece of cultural enjoyment and the relationship between people, place and the world in interior design, respectively, under the coordination of Isabel Dâmaso, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon.
In the afternoon there is “O luxo como elemento definidor dos espaços”, by Artur Correia and Joana Marcelino, and, also, a conversation – between José Ávila e Sousa, (CMO of the Preceram Group) and the architects Joana Laranjeira and António Laranjeira – with a suggestive theme: “From Renovation to Well-Being – spaces that work”.
With almost seventy exhibiting companies, a good portion of them with export capacity, the fair aims to reinforce the high level of qualification of professional visitors.
For the event in preparation online credentials have already been requested for attendees from Germany, Algeria, Brazil, Cape Verde, Egypt, Spain, USA, Estonia, France, Guinea-Bissau, India, Korea, Luxembourg, Morocco, Nigeria, Paraguay, Poland, Qatar, United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Venezuela, but it is the nationals that constitute the largest share of visitors, among architects, designers, decorators and other professionals linked to projects and premium design (which account for 70% of visitors).
An Unexpected Lounge by Fortuna
The curatorship of the event this year is in charge of Filipa Prucha Tuna and Artur Correia, from Fortuna, a duo who will be responsible for the check-in approach and the Homeing 2026 lounge, in an interpretation that crosses the motto “Feel Balance” with an “Unexpected” concept. Between shapes, colors and light, the duo seeks a sense of aesthetic balance that reveals Lisbon and the emblematic Pavilhão Carlos Lopes from a new perspective.
Thus, in the Foyer, the entry space, the concept materializes through the evocation of the building itself, the tile panels, the stone pattern and the flooring, which leads us to revisit the aesthetics where the dichotomy of the contemporary object is in full harmony with the history and architecture of the building. The same material – tile – and the same colors provide the cue for the creation of new objects that become essential elements in the fair’s reception space: a reception desk, benches and pedestals that evoke the essence of the space.
In the Lounge area, the environment inspired by the arches of Lisbon’s architecture will be a striking and disruptive zone. The creation of screens shaped like arches will delimit the space and transform it into a welcoming environment, perfect for a moment of pause or a work meeting. The space will aim to reflect the essence of the partner brands: Élitis (Barreiros & Barreiros), Aromas Del Campo and Botaca.
The South Foyer will host, at the time, “Machine to Think the Relationship Between Us and Objects” – an installation exploring the idea that subject and object do not exist independently, but are mutually constituted – and, also, an exhibition of metal hangers, a project by first-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Equipment Design, coordinated by Professor João Cruz and with collaboration from Project Labb (João Rocha and João Costa).
