Auchan Castelo Branco Earns SGS Certification for Excellence in Fresh Produce

March 13, 2026

With an ever-growing commitment to improving the sales service and product quality, Auchan Castelo Branco was distinguished with the Service Certification in the Fresh Products sector, awarded by SGS, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification, according to a press release.

According to the same source, the awarding of this seal, which covers the areas of bakery, pastry, prepared foods, cheesery, charcuterie, fishmonger, butcher, and fruits and vegetables, has as its main focus customer satisfaction and is based on five essential pillars – customer service and support, sale of fresh products, hygiene and food safety, assessment of customer satisfaction, and training and qualification of employees.

To obtain this certification, whose process began in 2025, the team at Auchan Castelo Branco implemented a meticulous and dedicated working process that involved certification audits and mystery shopper assessments by SGS ICS, which evaluated the quality of the service implemented and verified compliance with the defined standards.

“It is with great pride that we see the work and dedication of our Castelo Branco team recognised by SGS,” says João Barbosa, Quality Director of Auchan Retail Portugal. “This certification is not merely a badge of quality; it reflects our daily commitment to serving our customers with the freshest products, ensuring hygiene, safety and service that exceeds expectations. We will continue to invest in training and in continuous improvement to be the consumers’ preferred choice.”

Thus, Auchan Retail Portugal remains committed to actively contributing to the satisfaction of its customers, anticipating and surpassing their expectations regarding the services provided by the store in the sale of fresh food products.
