The Alentejo 2030 programme opened a call for proposals to support investments in the modernization of water infrastructure and efficiency in the use of water resources, with a budget of nearly nine million euros, announced today.
In a statement, the Alentejo Commission for Regional Coordination and Development (CCDR Alentejo) indicated that the call has a funding allocation of 8,997,000 euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with a maximum co-financing rate of 85%.
“The call is intended to support projects that contribute to the reuse, resilience, modernization and decarbonization of the urban water cycle, within the framework of the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Water Supply and the Management of Wastewater and Stormwater,” it noted.
According to the CCDR Alentejo, the call aims to support low-cost investments in the urban water cycle, covering the areas of wastewater sanitation, treated wastewater reuse, awareness and information actions, and rainwater harvesting.
“The objective is to strengthen the quality and sustainability of water services in the region, promoting more effective, efficient and sustainable services, as well as the appreciation of these services among the communities,” it noted.
The projects eligible for funding can be submitted by promoter entities of low-cost investments in the urban water cycle.
According to the CCDR Alentejo, the application period will run in 10 phases, the first ending at the end of this month and the last on December 31.
“This support aims to contribute to the modernization of water infrastructure, the efficiency in the use of water resources and adaptation to climate change, strengthening the resilience of urban systems and environmental sustainability in the region,” it added.
