Águas do Tejo Atlântico closes 2025 with €6.6 million in profits, reinforces its commitment to sustainability

The General Assembly of Águas do Tejo Atlântico approved, this Friday, March 28, the Report and Accounts relating to 2025, confirming a financial year marked by positive results and the company’s financial stability.

Shareholders unanimously approved the results of the last year, which reflect the sustainability of the management of the multimunicipal sanitation system operated by the company, responsible for the service provided to about 2.3 million people in 23 municipalities in the regions of Greater Lisbon and West.

In the 2025 activity report, the company highlights its contribution to environmental protection and public health, ensuring the continuity of wastewater treatment and valorization. Throughout the year, asset resilience was reinforced and the innovation strategy consolidated.

The commitment to innovation and the principles of the circular economy remained one of the main axes of activity. The company highlights the valorization of by-products generated in the so-called “Water Factories”, which have been integrated into new cycles of use, contributing to environmental sustainability. This work was recognized in 2025 with several awards and distinctions, at national and international levels.

Regarding investment, Águas do Tejo Atlântico invested €24.2 million, mainly in construction works, rehabilitation of infrastructures and improvement of treatment processes. According to the company, these investments contributed to increasing efficiency and operational safety, also impacting the quality of water bodies, reflected in the awarding of Blue Flags and Gold Flags at several beaches and marinas served by the system.

At the end of 2025, the company’s total assets stood at €522.3 million. Financially, the year closed with a positive net income of €6.6 million, a turnover of €100.3 million and an EBITDA of €38 million. Operating income reached €19.4 million.

The company also highlights the contribution of its team, consisting of about 441 employees, who ensure the daily operation of the sanitation system across the 23 municipalities served.

In the same period, the Water Factories produced 3.1 million cubic meters of water for reuse, used in various contexts, such as irrigation of green spaces, air conditioning of buildings, golf courses and urban cleaning, reinforcing the use of circular solutions.

In the energy area, renewable energy production reached 21.1 GWh in 2025, ensuring a self-sufficiency rate of 23.5%.

During the meeting, the new Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 term was also elected. The body will be chaired by Cláudio Jesus, and will also include Sandra Chambel and Sandra Santos.
