The winning projects of the BPI Foundation “la Caixa” Childhood Prize 2026 will benefit 8,216 children and young people, through responses oriented to social inclusion, personal and emotional development, equal opportunities, and support for families, as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, the winners were announced at a ceremony held at BPI All in One Lisbon, which marked the end of the eighth edition of the Childhood Prize.
In 2026, the Prize received 170 applications, of which 32 projects were selected. Each supported initiative will receive, on average, around 45,000 euros to develop responses directed at children, young people and families in vulnerable situations.
Among the distinguished projects are initiatives that make use of music, theatre, creative writing and urban arts as instruments of inclusion and development, mentoring programs and combating school dropout, projects focused on emotional literacy and parental support, therapeutic interventions supported by animals and nature, as well as initiatives that promote physical activity, healthy eating, digital inclusion and vocational guidance.
This year’s edition also includes projects dedicated to the early identification of learning difficulties, to the support of children and young people victims of domestic violence, to the empowerment of foster families and to the creation of more inclusive school and community environments.
Since the launch of the Childhood Prize in 2019, 266 projects have been distinguished, with a total value of more than 9.2 million euros, which has enabled the benefit of 85,641 children and adolescents. Over the eight editions, 1,216 applications were submitted.
