ANGOLA: AIDS manual to benefit school kids

A Danish NGO, People To People Development Aid (ADPP), working in partnership with the UN Development Programme, is to launch an HIV/AIDS awareness manual for Angola's primary school pupils.

ADPP assistant director Evaristo Maya told the Angolan news agency, ANGOP, on Tuesday that the toolkit would help teachers disseminate accurate information on the dangers of the pandemic.

Maya said the US $20,000 initiative would kick off in Luanda and Kwanza Sul provinces next month, and there were plans to expand the project to cover all of Angola's 18 provinces.

The ADPP initiative, under the Education Ministry's primary schools and community strengthening project, also aims to train 75 teachers on how best to utilise the manual.
