MALAWI: NGO helps government tackle AIDS and poverty
An international aid organisation has announced plans to help Malawi's government tackle HIV/AIDS and poverty.
World Vision International (WVI) said it would do this by sensitising people to the dangers of HIV/AIDS in all areas where its developmental programmes were based.
The regional manager of WVI in Malawi, Hastings Banda, said the organisation was committed to helping the government reduce poverty by championing the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Banda told a local newspaper, The Chronicle, that the project would run for a year and provide health care to HIV-positive people, orphans, and other vulnerable groups.
