NIGERIA: Conference to seek HIV/AIDS solutions

JOHANNESBURG, 17 Sep 2004 (PLUSNEWS) - An upcoming four-day HIV/AIDS conference in Nigeria aims to stem the increasing rate of HIV/AIDS in Africa.

The gathering, titled, 'HIV/AIDS Pandemic: Implication for Human Development in Africa', will take place in the capital, Abuja, from 21 to 24 September, and is supported by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and the Nigerian Academy of Science.

Ministry spokesman Clement Egbeama told a local newspaper, Daily Champion, the conference would focus on treatment, prevention and control of the disease, and was expected to attract scientists and speakers on the socioeconomic and political impact of HIV and AIDS.
