UGANDA: New survey to obtain accurate AIDS rates
JOHANNESBURG, 2 Jun 2004 (PLUSNEWS) - A national survey to obtain accurate estimates of HIV/AIDS prevalence is set to kick off in Uganda.
The survey, to be conducted by the Ministry of Health, will comprise questionnaires and anonymous blood samples from 10,000 households, a local newspaper, The Monitor, reported.
Respondents will include 8,000 children below the age of four, 8,000 women and 7,000 men aged between 15 to 59.
Health Minister Jim Muhwezi is expected to present a report on the findings to parliament.
