SUDAN: Fifteen die of suspected meningitis in six states

SUDAN: Dinka IDPs start returning to the south

NAIROBI, 7 Feb 2006 (IRIN) - Some 376 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Sudan's Dinka ethnic group have returned to the southern town of Bor from the regional capital, Juba, the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, has said. Full report


SUDAN: Hundreds in need of help as diarrhoea kills 12 in Yei

SUDAN: AU condemns Darfur attacks, demands disarmament of militias

KHARTOUM, 3 Feb 2006 (IRIN) - The African Union (AU) has strongly condemned the recent escalation of attacks by rebels and Arab Janjawid militia in the western Sudanese Darfur region and has demanded that those perpetrating the violence be disarmed immediately. Full report


CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC-SUDAN: Thousands of Sudanese to return home by April

BANGUI, 2 Feb 2006 (IRIN) - Some 5,000 Sudanese refugees living in the Central African Republic could return home by April following the signing of a tripartite agreement between the two governments and the Office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, the agency said. Full report
