1. Nigeria National Health Conference 28 to 29 November 2006 - Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja

The major objective of the conference is to develop, document and market a 21st century health agenda for Nigeria, especially for the period 2007 to 2011 when a new government is expected to be in place. Topics and speakers will include:

- Mobilising for Diseases Control in Resource-poor Settings: the case of HIV/AIDS in Cross River State' - Donald Duke, the Executive Governor of Cross River State

- Achieving Health Millennium Development Goals through Health System Strengthening: The Role of Stakeholders - Andrew Cassels (to be confirmed), of the World Health Organisation

- Mobilising for Maternal and Child Health Services in Resource-poor Settings: The Yobe State experience - Dr. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Executive Governor, Yobe State of Nigeria

2. HIV/AIDS and its Impact on Business in Africa - 22 to 25 January 2007

One of the major challenges facing the continent is to gather resources and translate knowledge and experience into treatment and prevention programmes.

This conference at the Sandton Convention Centre, in Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks to address the consequences if business continues to ignore current warnings and statistics.

1. "All Together Now" - Community mobilisation for HIV/AIDS toolkit

This toolkit, produced by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, describes the process of encouraging community mobilisation for prevention, care, support and treatment activities. It uses tried and tested approaches to help facilitate communities to become actively involved in the assessment, design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and scaling up of HIV/AIDS projects and programmes.

2. AIDS Impact 2007

Registration and abstract submission is now open for AIDS Impact 2007, the international conference taking place from 1 to 4 July 2007 in Marseille France.

The AIDS Impact conference is specifically devoted to Human and Social Sciences in the field of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The last conference, held in 2005 in Cape Town, South Africa, attracted more than 700 participants from all over the world. It was also a unique opportunity to give more space to research in social sciences dealing with the HIV epidemic in developing countries.

Abstract Submission

Abstract Deadline: 22 January 2007

Late Breaker: 1 April 2007

Abstracts are to be submitted in English only and must not have been previously published or presented. They should be no longer than 300 words.
