1. Project Manager - Orphaned and Vulnerable Children

Hope and Homes for Children UK (HHC UK) is an international children's charity working with orphaned and abandoned children in 13 countries in Eastern Europe and Africa. HHC UK seeks a Project Manager for HIV/AIDS-related Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) projects in the provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Eastern Cape in South Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the projects in implementing models of good practice of orphan care
  • Assist in strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Participate in the capacity development of project staff
  • Oversee project implementation and development as well as overall financial administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three years' experience in designing, implementing and evaluating community-based development programmes in South Africa (especially with focus on OVC)
  • Experience in designing and implementing models of good care practice for OVC, children's rights and protection issues
  • Implementing monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Knowledge of child development, training skills
  • Experience of writing proposals, financial management and human resource management
  • Strong communications, writing, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel in-country approximately 30 percent of the time
  • Knowledge of IsiZulu or IsiXhosa
  • Ability to liaise with donor organisations regarding programming, policy and planning
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel)
