1. HIV/AIDS Programme Officer, Johannesburg South Africa

The CORE (Communities Responding to the HIV/AIDS Epidemic) Initiative is a global USAID-funded programme whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of community and faith-based groups in their HIV/AIDS response. CARE USA leads this initiative, in partnership with the World Council of Churches (WCC), the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW), the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, and the Centre for Communication Programmes (CCP) of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The CORE Initiative Programme Officer for the Southern and West Africa region, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, will work under the supervision of CARE's Regional HIV/AIDS Coordinator. This position will provide programmatic and technical support to CORE Initiative partners, community and faith-based organisations, and CARE country offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partnership and programme development
  • Proposal development
  • Technical assistance and capacity building for sub-grantees and CARE country offices
  • Donor relations, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting
  • Supporting the development and implementation of regional technical strategies to enhance the CORE Initiative and CARE's HIV/AIDS programming

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primary degree in Public Health, International Development or a related field
  • At least 3 years' experience working with community and faith-based organisations
  • Experience in organisational development and working on HIV/AIDS
