Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is looking for qualified applicants to oversee the programme activities of its Nigeria Health section, including supervising programme staff, coordinating the development and implementation of health programming as per CRS/Nigeria sectoral strategies, maintaining positive relationships with partner and donor organisations, and ensuring all CRS policies and procedures are followed by the CRS/Nigeria Health Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in the Strategic Programme Plan (SPP) process and work closely with the Head of Programming (HoP) and Health Team to develop the health component of the SPP
• With the support of the HoP, provide guidance for the health programme staff to implement the interim HIV/AIDS programme strategy
• Following completion of the CRS/Nigeria SPP, provide guidance on the implementation of the SPP sectoral strategy for Health, including HIV/AIDS
• Ensure that the country-specific strategic plan follows the regional and agency strategic frameworks

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Public Health or a related field.
• At least 3 years in a management position, supervising senior staff, with international or intercultural experience preferred
• At least 3 years living and working overseas, preferably with HIV/AIDS programme experience
• Minimum 2 years' experience managing CRS development projects, with CRS proposal writing and project review processes
• Ability to professionally represent CRS to other organizations, preferably with experience collaborating with the Church
• Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-cultural team
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Excellent strategic planning skills
• Extensive knowledge of proposal writing and budgeting.
• Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Written and verbal proficiency in English, proficiency in either French, Spanish, or Portuguese required

Up to 50 percent travel within the country programme to visit project sites.

The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS, an informal grouping of partners and organisations working to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls worldwide, needs a qualified Advocacy and Communications Adviser to intensify awareness of the issues promoted by the coalition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the supervision of the Chief of Advocacy and Campaigns, the suitable candidate will conceive, develop and implement advocacy strategies and media plans for the coalition at global, regional and country levels, as appropriate and in collaboration with the coalition's convening agencies, inter-country teams and UNAIDS country coordinators
• Identify advocacy opportunities worldwide for promotion of the coalition and its goals, and ensure the participation of convening agencies and the UNAIDS secretariat as needed, including in activities of other UN bodies, civil society organisations and other groups
• Act as spokesperson for the coalition
• Develop and maintain close contacts with international media on issues relating to women and HIV/AIDS and to the coalition specifically
• Intensify and maintain a steady flow of information on the coalition and its substantive areas of work to internal and external audiences, including preparation of newsletters and other information products about the coalition
• Organise press conferences and briefings, develop fact sheets and talking points, line up interviews and undertake all media activities relating to the coalition
• Draft key messages on the coalition, based on sound policy and evidence
• Maintain and expand the coalition website and develop innovative approaches to using the web, broadcast, multi-media and new electronic technologies to enhance communications and advocacy.
• Provide support for presentations to the UNAIDS Programme Coordination Board, Steering Committee meetings and other key events
• Maintain close contact with the media and advocacy plans of the coalition's convening agencies and regional initiatives, as well as with the World AIDS Campaign 2004
• Undertake other advocacy duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in social sciences or related field. Current knowledge of development issues with particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS and gender
• Minimum of eight years of advocacy and communications experience, mostly in HIV/AIDS or gender. Knowledge of communications strategies and implementation, including institutional positioning and development of key messages
• Fluency in English required and in other UN languages highly desirable
• Strong writing skills and excellent representational abilities
• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS epidemic and gender issues. Strong understanding of advocacy and public relations processes
• Expertise in media relations at international level. Familiarity with variety of policy environments. Knowledge of the UN system desirable
• Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment. Diplomacy and ability to get along with others essential. Ability to handle large volumes of work and turn it around quickly under strict deadlines. Ability to work on wide range of issues and projects simultaneously.

The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is looking for suitable applicants to work in true partnership with local organisations in complex political and religious environments to support them in developing their responses to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in Angola as part of a team based in the UK, and in collaboration with a wide range of other organisations
• Responsible for needs assessment, with a view to developing strategy, supporting partners in developing their programmes, training and leading on the procurement of further funding as this work develops
• Capacity to work in a faith-based context, experienced in community work addressing HIV/AIDS as a development issue, project cycle management and needs assessments
• Should show strong initiative, have excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills and be fluent in both Portuguese and English.

The post is based in Luanda but will require travel to the provinces.
