1. HIV/AIDS Advisor - Ethiopia

The international aid agency, Save the Children (SC), is seeking an HIV/AIDS Adviser to provide technical support to programme staff involved in the implementation of HIV/AIDS related projects in Ethiopia, assist in the development of proposals and the start-up of new interventions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of HIV/AIDS sector projects and activities
  • Ensuring that HIV/AIDS is recognised and integrated into various sectoral work, including emergency response interventions
  • Contributing to the development of Save the Children's ongoing policy, strategy and advocacy development
  • Monitoring trends in the government of Ethiopia and donor policy in relation to HIV/AIDS
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the country strategy, thematic plans and operational plan, using child rights programming
  • Providing technical support and capacity building to develop Save the Children's HIV/AIDS work in Ethiopia
  • Representing SC Ethiopia at appropriate local and national levels

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A post-graduate qualification in international public health or equivalent
  • At least 2 years' international experience in HIV/AIDS prevention and impact mitigation programming work and an in-depth understanding of HIV/AIDS issues
  • Broad knowledge of development issues, experienced in research, implementation and monitoring/evaluation in HIV/AIDS
  • Highly skilled in technical capacity building, willing to undertake extensive travel within Ethiopia
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and competence in Amharic is desirable
