The following testimonies are from South Africa. They were produced by PlusNews HIV/AIDS News Service as part of its World AIDS Day 2003 special.

Fabien is a French National currently living in South Africa. He is 38 years old and has been living with HIV/AIDS for the past 20 years. Fabien is a well-known image consultant and the picture of perfect health. He feels that more can be done in South Africa to encourage acceptance of people living with HIV/AIDS. Here is his story.
Keith, Thirty-eight-year-old Keith was diagnosed HIV-positive four years ago and has disclosed to his partner of fourteen years. He has found that the support he receives from his partner has been invaluable in terms of coping with his positive status and taking his antiretroviral medication. This is his story.

The following testimonies are from Botswana. They were produced by the Southern Africa HIV/AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) as part of a 52 part series from 4 different countries - Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique.

The purpose of the 'Positive voices' series is to allow people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS to tell their stories to fight stigma.

David Nkele, 53, first learnt he was HIV-positive in 1993. Since then he has been working to educate people about HIV/AIDS
Lerato Pule, 36, was ill for two years before she went for an HIV test in January 2003. Her family and friends have been extremely supportive since she was diagnosed HIV-positive.
Billy Mosedame is a young AIDS activist living positively who is trying to make a difference by sharing his experience of HIV/AIDS
Natasha Gontse is a young woman living positively with HIV
