AFRICA-NIGERIA: Workshop: HIV/AIDS and Healthcare Safety: Capacity Building on Medical Waste Management
JOHANNESBURG, 25 September 2007 (PlusNews) - Every year, an estimated 3 million healthcare providers worldwide are at risk of injury at work. Nigeria’s country-specific data on injection safety and medical waste showed 45 percent of health workers had at least one needle stick injury within the preceding year. In attempt to redress this critical aspect of health care safety, the West African College of Nursing - in collaboration with Action Family Foundation - is organizing a two-day capacity building workshop to empower practitioners and strengthen waste management in health facilities.
