1. HIV/AIDS General Coordinator - Zimbabwe, Médecins du Monde (MDM)
Médecins du Monde is an international humanitarian organisation working in Chipinge District, Zimbabwe to inform the communities about HIV/AIDS and the specific interventions established (such as VCT, information centre) in the region.
The overall activities of the General Coordinator are to ensure the implementation, coordination and management of the programme and to ensure collaboration with all partners at national, provincial, district, ward and village levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall operational and political positioning and representation of MDM in Zimbabwe (officially represent MDM with all project stakeholders and relevant actors, contact potential donors and write proposals, organise, chair, and participate in relevant meetings with other NGOs, donors and local government representatives).
The coordinator also provides MDM Head office and other project stakeholders with weekly and monthly reporting on MDM activities and a political analysis of the situation, manages the daily project activities, and supervises and supports the expatriate and local teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior humanitarian experience and a minimum of two years in a developing country, with proven management/supervisory skills and experience in medical programmes and STD/HIV/AIDS programmes, if possible.
- Creative, innovative and strategic thinking ability
- Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, organisational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
- Prior management experience mandatory
- Ability to work in English
- Computer skills (including Excel)
- Basic understanding of epidemiology
- International driving licence
The post is available for six months, with a monthly allowance of 915 Euros (US $1,116) + per diem. Closing date for applications: 1 October 2004.
