1. Producer/Director - HIV/AIDS Treatment Literacy Programme

Community Health Media Trust requires a Sotho/Zulu speaking producer-director for their flagship HIV/AIDS treatment literacy programme "Siyayinqoba" (meaning 'beat it', or 'we are winning').

No experience is needed in health media as training will be given. The post would suite a film school or other graduate with some production experience, able to work in a non-discriminatory environment with people living with HIV/AIDS.

A willingness to work hard as part of a young and energetic team is essential. Experienced producer-directors are welcome to apply.

2. National Organiser - Treatment Action Campaign (TAC)

South Africa's Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) invites applications for the position of National Organiser, based in Cape Town.

This is a one-year contract and, depending on the availability of funds and the needs of the organisation, may be renewed.

The salary is negotiable, based on the candidate's relevant experience. Standard benefits include a 13th cheque, full contributions to the staff medical aid, and contributions to the staff provident fund.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and support provincial and district organisers by developing work plans for strengthening TAC branches and districts
  • Advocate for the improvement of clinics in their area
  • Improve knowledge of treatment, prevention and science of HIV in their communities
  • Educate members about their rights and access to government services and grants
  • Mobilise communities to participate in TAC events
  • Assist provincial and district organisers to facilitate good relations with health workers and communicate with NGOs
  • Facilitate development of the capacity and leadership of TAC volunteers
  • Play a role in giving direction to the national office in terms of strategy and organisational planning as the point person with the provinces

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel frequently to TAC offices and branches
  • Proven track record of good leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in managing people and implementing programmes, preferably in the health or HIV/AIDS sectors
  • Ability to communicate well in at least two South African languages
  • Good writing skills and computer skills
  • Driver's license would be an advantage, but is not essential.
