We are in the heart of the Christmas season, and the night most awaited of the year – for many – is almost at the door. Although it hasn’t been the best year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a year in which many questions were raised, and in which the environment gained space in the recovery of tomorrow.
Although consumerism should be combated, which greatly contributes to the pollution of the planet, there is always someone special we like to give a gift to.
Green Savers has gathered five eco-friendly gift suggestions to give this Christmas. There is still time to inspire someone close, and to contribute to a good cause:
- Plantable pencils – The pencil is an accessory that is indispensable in any home. Whether for the youngest, or for the oldest, it is always handy for taking notes. And if, instead of constantly buying new ones and discarding them when they grow short, you bought a set of plantable pencils? - Artisan soap – Soap is a gift that never goes out of fashion, and this year it has also gained a new meaning. Whether to keep in the wardrobe, or to wash your hands, soap is an essential product that we never let spoil. - Contributing to a Portuguese association – Environmental associations are indispensable groups that, every day, contribute to the defense and conservation of the Planet and its species. Why not opt to contribute to the work of their teams and the operation of one of them? You can choose to donate a monetary amount, join as a member, or even purchase some of the merchandise they produce that benefits them.
- Eco-friendly object kit – There is nothing like trying it to understand that it works. There are countless everyday objects that we could replace with eco-friendly ones, such as toothbrushes, makeup-removal pads, shampoo and shower gel, or even supermarket bags. Look for Portuguese brands and offer a kit with natural products that do not pollute the environment, as a way to inspire that family member or close friend to adopt new habits.
- Meaningful T-shirts – There are T-shirts that can change the world, and these are some of them.
