1. Understanding and Challenging HIV Stigma: Toolkit for Action, ICRW, International AIDS Alliance & AED

This toolkit evolved out of a two-year research project on HIV stigma conducted by ICRW in Zambia, Tanzania and Ethiopia (2001-03), and was first published in 2003. An updated version has just been published, building on experience with stigma education in different parts of Africa. New modules have been developed covering: ARV treatment and stigma, children and stigma, youth and stigma, and MSM and stigma.

2. Regional Workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation of HIV/AIDS Programmes, MEASURE Evaluation Project, 4 to13 March, 2008, Pretoria, South Africa

The training workshop will cover fundamental concepts and tools for monitoring and evaluating (M&E) HIV/AIDS programmes. The workshop will target national level M&E professionals and others implementing HIV/AIDS programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Alliance's regional team in the expansion, development and implementation of the Alliance's work in the region

  • Spearhead the strengthening of the Alliance’s members, independent national organisations

  • Help to implement the 2010 Alliance Strategic Framework 2010, with a focus on delivering programmes at scale, increased civil society development and strengthened policy influence


Requirements

  • Previous experience as a senior manager

  • Considerable knowledge and experience of HIV/AIDS

  • Past work experience in the Eastern European and Asian region

  • S/he will have post graduate qualifications in development, public health or management

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills

2. Male Circumcision Partnership Project Manager, Population Services International (PSI), Swaziland

Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of clinical providers and other support staff to develop male circumcision (MC) service delivery sites

  • Engage Ministry of Health, National AIDS Council and other partners in support of a national MC Task Force, policy and guidelines that support the expansion of adult MC provision to prevent HIV

  • Build the technical competence of participating MC practitioners through a combination of formal training workshops, follow-up visits, refresher trainings, newsletters and other approaches

  • Ensure all necessary materials, systems and policies are developed on schedule

  • Work with project sites to develop and finalize Memoranda of Understanding

  • Revise existing MC training materials and processes

  • Determine procedures and logistics of quality assurance system

  • Develop content for trainings for project site support staff on scheduling, equipment/supply management, and reporting

  • Develop and implement operational procedures and logistics for client counselling, support and follow-up

  • Develop and implement work plans, creative briefs and research briefs for MC communications

  • Manage the development and testing of communication materials

  • Manage the development and implementation of a media advocacy plan

  • Regularly visit project partners to obtain updates on project progress, successes and challenges

  • Ensure project sites are maintaining quality service delivery, submitting necessary reports and operating according to minimum standards

  • Complete and submit monthly activity reports and update project timeline.

  • Collect and review monthly reports for all project partners


Requirements

  • An advanced graduate degree and a minimum of 3 years experience working in a developing country environment

  • Experience in developing and managing project strategies, implementation and monitoring and evaluation

  • Demonstrated excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills;

  • Demonstrated interest in global health issues. Experience working in the field of HIV, male circumcision delivery or HIV prevention is preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 30 percent in country
